Default AC control readout???

On my 86 the AC seems to work just fine but on the AC control if I push the ext temp switch it either rears the outside temp or 60 the 60 never changes...what's it's suppose to be giving the reading of?
Thanks, C

I'm not sure what A/C system you have, but one control should access the outside temp, and on control should set the desired in-car temp. A constant 60 reading indicates a fault.
Try this: push and hold the fan "up" arrow and fan "down" arrow at the same time for a few seconds (5). The display should show "00". Push "AUTO FAN" and the display will show any fault codes stored. If you have a code(s) displayed, post the number, and I will email you the code descriptions...........

I assume this is the basic digital AC control...I'm new to the c4 thing...
I held both arrows and the "60" went to "00" I hit auto fan but all it did was return to "60" after a few seconds....
Thanks,C

If the A/C is providing you with the desired temp without showing a correct reading, I would accept what you have. The problem may be with the HVAC programmer, and the diagnostics are quite complex, and I would imagine, quite expensive.

Dash Assembly temp reading for a/c & heating ranges from 60 to 90. If everything works, but all you have is 60, assembly needs to be replaced.

Do you mean the AC control panel, as in the problem is within it?
I guess I'll live with it as long as the AC works.....here in FL I don't need the heater too much....
Thanks, C
