Hello,
I'm having a situation where my battery dies down after my vette sits a few days, which hasn't been a huge problem because usually I charge the battery and hook it back up.
The problem is that the car came with an aftermarket security system which I know nothing about and when I hook the battery up after charging I'm getting alarms like crazy (not the VATS horns but sirens). The alarms sound for a while and then stop (the red light on the console continues to blink quickly). After a few minutes the alarms come back on again. In the past it would eventually stop and I'd be able to use the remote to turn it off, but the past couple of times it doesn't even let me use the remote. My cars being held hostage by Vetteland Security. What a po man to do???walk????
Is there any way I can just deactivate the system indefinitely or do I have to somehow find the dealer that this unholy system came from?
well, if your trying to de-activate the aftermarket alarm, you can try to find the power wire that goes to the aftermarket alarm system (should be somewhere in the engine compartment) you could disconnect it that way or even just put a switch on it to turn it off / on at will.

Just my .02,
I agree just disconnect the power going to this alarm unit. Then test car and see if you have any other drain on the charging system!! Or you can do what OLDACE84 suggests :mad Dude do you get off insulting people with your worthless responses to a post I dont know what your problem is??? Did you wife kick your butt or something???? Instead of post a bunch of crap to run up your post count ...try something constructive. Good thing this guy isnt 16 years old too. Like the kid you ripped earlier. Your 59 year old .....grow up!
I had the same issue after I bought the 91 except it didn't drain the battery. It had an aftermarket alarm installed and the siren would go off at odd times. I finally pulled the siren part out and chucked it.
I have a '86 with an "after market alarm" and it was nothing but trouble.
It was killing my battery, so much so that If I let me car sit for 2 or 3 days, I would always be welcomed with a dead battery. I found that it was a bad alarm module. I just decided to take the whole thing out.
The car has VATS and to be honest thats all that I really need. I don't think that after-market alarms are worth the money. Just my 2 cents.
i'm pretty sure the alarm system you are talking about is the Viper alarm system. i have the same thing in mine (with the blinking red light and wailing siren when it goes off). you probably have a key fob that has the lock, unlock ,aux., and a button with a horn symbol on it. if the alarm goes off, just hit the unlock button to shut it off. hope this helps.
and that light for the alarm shouldn't kill the battery that quickly. i've seen the viper system in a bmw near us that wasn't used for about a week, and had the light blinking all the time. started right up too. check to make sure all your lights turn off after the delay. i had one of the ones on the door panel not shut off, and that killed my battery after a few days.
