Ac problems freon, compressor,Blower but No Cold 89
ok here is the deal my ac is charged holds freon no leaks. My compressor turns on fans blow but no cold air in fomt cockpit shop evecuated and refilled just in case .Next step dealer .the high prssure hoze is cold like it is working .I already checked to se if vac hose is connected and it is tore dash apart couldnt find any bad connections. Please help it was 85deg today
Re: Ac problems froen ok compressor ok (crash1mac)
check and see if its cold when you first start the car( when the engine is cold), then gets hotter as the engine heats up.. may be the heater control valve isnt working and the heat is overcoming the cold air.
Re: Ac problems froen ok compressor ok (neverendingproject)
just removed controls and cked board it looks fine where too next it is clinmate controled thier were no vacum hoses pluged into control unit in dash :banghead:
Re: Ac problems freon, compressor,Blower but No Cold 89 (crash1mac)
I think you mean the low pressure line is cold - high side should be hot. If it has a cold spot, it's restricted but whomever evacuated and recharged would have probably discovered it and the compressor would be cycling. Sounds like the air control door isn't moving. If it's electronic air - is ext temp readout flashing? If so, hold the ext temp button while pressing & releasing the auto button. When a number appears, advance it until it's #8 by pressing the warm button, then press the cold button to read the diagnostic code. If it's code 1, air mix valve is open. If no codes, remove the Blower Control Module on the Evaporator housing to observe the air door. Have someone operate the controls and see if it's moving while the controls are cycled between full hot & cold. If it doesn't move, check linkage by removing the hush panel on the passenger side. It's an adjustable plastic rod from the air mix valve to the door.
Re: Ac problems freon, compressor,Blower but No Cold 89 (crash1mac)
If you have a manifold gauge set, post high & low pressures, with engine at 1500 rpm; fan switch on high pressure line disconnected so that the main fan stays on, blower on high, windows down. If not, measure temp of high (smaller) line after the orifice (where it enters the evaporator - bottom of housing - and compare it with the temp of the low pressure line where it exits at the top of the housing. Use digital thermometer (you can get one at any grocery store for a couple of bucks. Temp should be the same or low side should be slightly colder - post the temps. I'm assuming you have a nice strong stream of air through the vents. If not, evaporator is restricted since door position is ok.

blows like the wind cant tell position of door though the wer saying take something off and look in i didnt know what part they were talking about so i didnt disasemble anything on the evaperator i didnt want to brake simething elese

Take off the hush panel on the pass side and open the hood. Look where the heater hoses go through the firewall and picture where the heater core is on the other side. There is a black piece of plastic covering the heater core on the inside. On the outside of this plastic cover is the heater door control motor, which connects to the door via a rod that goes thru the cover. Have someone switch the car from full heat to full cold while you watch the motor and see if the rod moves. If it does not then you will need to replace the heater door control motor.
