Underhood heat dissipation
I was thinking of removing the dirt sheilds (?) that are inbetween the tire and engine , that are above the upper control arm. Doing this would mean a dirtier engine and if it got wet would mean a wet alternator. So it looks like I probably won't do that. I have seen the lower spoiler/brake duct cooler, could this be modified to bring the cool air to the engine bay rather than the brakes?
Does anyone have any ideas how to keep the engine bay cooler?
This is Ok but no good if stopped or in traffic. I have heard of people lifting the rear of the hood up to let the heat out but it don't look good.
Another potential problem is if you can vent the heat out the top ,will you increase the heat going to the intake manifold.Maybe some thermodynamic engineer out there can say wether the heat built up above the motor is constant due to the small size of the engine bay ,ie the heat from the radiator drops out the bottom of the engine bay rather than going over the manifold.
