Since the search on this site doesnt work for me, I have to ask..
Looking for pictures of peoples custom exhaust systems. Wondering how they hang it. Is the header and rear "muffler" hangers enough? Or do you need a center hanger too?
I currently have gotten the pipes to the tunnel under the transmission. I plan on trying to get it to the rear of the car over the next two days.
Its a dual 3" system with Lingenfelter headers (flanged). Using mandrel bends for all turns.
Would like to see everyones custom systems for ideas as well.
Well, I am not from Croatia and my system is not made of SS, but perhaps I can chime in anyway :jester
My system is made of dual 3" pipes behind a pair of hookers headers. Two Catco converters. If you look just behind the converters you will see how I hooked it up. I think you need more than just the headers and the muffler holders to hold up the system.
I hope the picture works, if not send me an IM with your email adress and I can send you some pics.
I know on the stock system there was a rubber type strap that held down. And for the life of me I cant figure out where it is, its not on the car, but I didnt think it was removable under normal stuff (I would have had no reason to remove it).
The LT4 we have has a weird spring setup, havent had a good look at it though, but connects to both sides, that something I can make work on mine?
Have you had any ground clearance issues with the CAT's angled like that? Is your car lowered or stock height?
I was trying to post a better picture but my MSM isn't working like it is supposed to. But perhaps you can click on the picture and zoom. I have used the original attachement holes and used an universal holder. I also welded a plate to support both the pipes.
The car is lowered and so far no clearence problems (beacause of the CAT's that is)
On mine, it has the two mounting points in the back at the mufflers, the header collectors, then there are also two sprung hangers, one attaching to the rear of the ZF tranny and the other at the rear end where the camber arms attach to the pumpkin.
I don't have pics either (particularly since I've got the car apart right now)...But, I was also running a 3" dual mandrel bend system I fabricated myself. We have no emissions in Arkansas so I ran no cats, either. I did incorporate a Dr. Gas X-Pipe. My attachment points were the headers (1 7/8" with 3.5" collectors) and the muffler hangers; I haven't used the center connection point (off the trans/c-beam) since I ran a basically modifed stock system several years ago. My car is lowered but I never had any clearance issues...I might with the new 3.5" system though. When I get the car back together (which might be a little while) I'll take pics while I build it.

I'm using the LT1/4 hangers for my dual 3" system. I bought all the parts from Jeff Kopp @ superior chevrolet. There are 3 hangers, one by the tranny and 2 that attatch to the differential. You need to replace the bolts that hold the camber arm bracket to the differential with bolts that have studs (also bought from Jeff)
I have the part number for the 4 bolts that hold the two hangers (A) to the differential. They are for the D44 manual trasmission vettes. Let me know if you want it and I'll dig it up.
