I know the FP safety switch should be installed as far as possible from the fuel solenoid, but how far is "far"? Is this a physical distance or a fuel line distance "far"? Say I have 10ft of braided fuel line between the Fuel solenoid and the FPSS, but the two are physically right next to each other, is that acceptable? Just curious. Any comments would be appreciated.
I use a stand alone fuel system for my nitrous and the safety switch is mounted just after the fuel pressure regulator about 12" from the solenoid...Never had a problem.

As long as the FPSS is not installed inline right next to the solenoid, you should be OK. Physical location does not effect it.
What you are trying to avoid is a fluttering activation caused by the FPSS cutting in and out the system because it sees the pressure drop in the fuel supply. The more distance it has from the solenoid, the less of the drop it will see. All systems will have a slight drop when it is first activated.
