I have a friend that wants to put my stock 99 C5 wheels on his 84 Vette. What I want to know is if this is possible? If so, would you please tell me what all he has too do to make them fit. And if anyone has done it on here would you please post pics. Thanks in advance.
He needs a spacer plate to make them sit correctly and line up with the fenders. Otherwise theyll sit in too far, because the offsets are bigger on the later wheels.
I have C5 wheels on my '84. I used 1 1/4" adapters on the rear and 7/8" adapters on the front and I have to say they look great. I get alot of compliments on the setup. The wheel adapters that most people use are 3/4" thick and in my opinion allow the wheel to sit too far in the wheel well. Even if you put C5 wheels on a 88-96 the wheels sit in farther than the stock wheels. The offset on 88-94 wheels is 56mm and on the C5 wheels it's 61mm on the 18" rears which means they'll sit in the wheel well 5mm more than the other wheels. I know it's only a little bit, but to me it mattered! If you need a place for adapters, I got mine from MC Motorsports in Ontario, Calif. They cost $45 each, which really isn't a bad price. If you need any more info or need the contact # for the spacers, send me an e-mail.
