Default New toy came last night!

When I finally got home last night, there in a package was my Romulator.

I spoke of the unit before in a post. It will allow me to make changes in the tune, without actually burning a new chip! Basically it interfaces between the computer and the ECM. All I have to do is pull off the road and make a change, then pull back out to test the results of it.

I would like to make a special thanks to Tunercat for hooking me up with the software on a trial basis and to give them feedback on the software.

This will make dyno testing and track tuning awesomely easy. Just make a change and head back out. As easy as pie!

I will keep you all posted on the pro/cons of the system.

I was looking at such a thing the other day. I didn't really think it was something I had much use for, but was suprised I hadn't heard more about it. I suppose once you get the tune you want you would go ahead and use a normal chip for reliability?

NAthan,

yes you would just use it for the actual tuning, then burn a chip after your happy.

The nice thing about the system and last night was the first that Tunercat released the software, but you can head on out and instantly make changes to the tune.

If your life is anything like mine, I designate a time to tune my car, tough on the streets around here, but I do it anyways. I get a log of the car, head back to the house, where I am greeted with my wife's million requests to pick up milk, and my 2 yr old son that clings to me like static, insisting that I take him outside to see Dadda's Brrrrrm brrrm. When all is said and done I usually have 30 logs and no new tune. Not that all that is bad, especially my sons corvette enthusiasm :D

But this way I can head out as I plan to tonight and make the changes with never having to leave the roadside. It really will be nice!

What I see it enabling you to do is try more combination in a shorter period of time. Like now my starting is sometimes hard. This will enable me to make changes, start the car, improve or get worse? Make a change, improve or get worse. WIth never leaving the car.

SHould be cool and I'm sure since the testing is make easier, I will learn a lot more about how the tables interact. Can't wait to give it a whirl.

 Congrats. Tuning on the fly should be amazing. No more wasted chips, just get it how you want it and burn one. Let us know how it works out. May be making a trip up to PA this summer and would love to see it in action.
