I had the radiator hoses off, both knock sensors out and I figured all of the coolant must be drained. The book says the capacity is 17.8quarts. When I went to refill, I put in two gallons of anti freeze and 1 1/2 gallons of distilled water, that's all that would fit. My calculations come out with 14 quarts. Where is the extra 3.8 quarts? I ran it and only could put another pint or two in. Do you think the heater core and recovery tank holds the missing 3 quarts? :skep:

Yup. If you've pulled off everything you say you have, and nothing more came out, then the rest is in the heatercore and overflow bottle.

Besides, 3qrts is not much, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Yep. If you want to, you can blow it out of the core with compressed air, just don't go much above 15 psi.
