I meet a young man Saturday night while out for dinner that has a great looking white '92 coupe. '92's have the LT1's right?
And no, it wasn't a ZR1 I checked.
Anyway, he told me that he had the "govenor" removed. He when on to tell me that he went 186 MPH and he still had about three inches of peddle. Isn't that a little bit out of the range of a stock LT1?
NO, that is a lot out of range for a LT1. The only govenor on the LT1 is the rev limiter. I think you would need over 400 hp to do over 180. :steering:

I have a car that will run over 180 mph and I can assure you that a stock Lt1 don't have nearly enough ***** to do it especially with two inches of throttle left. My vette only has about two inches of throttle to begin with
That guy is full of BS
Well yea. He seemed like a nice guy and all, but you know he was most likely caught up in the moment. Mine is bigger than your's kind of stuff.
Being it was Saturday night and the way he was acting I think he was drinking also.
I'm not making excuses for him. I can relate with him though about being excieted about his Corvette! I just didn't know if that on a newer year than mine that there was a "modification" that was posible.
He did mention to me however, that after making the 186 MPH he had to replace his transmittion.
On my stock '92 LT1 with a 3.07 and auto, the fastest I have gotten is 167 mph. I was on a long flat, straight, smooth surface with no wind and really playing with the throttle to work around the kick down between overdrive and drive. Can't see it happening unless there was a a 2.XX rear, the rev limiter was raised significantly and nitrous was installed.

Now where in Florida did you find a stretch of road that you figure this out ?
I'd like to test mine out there too!! :D
OK PTz-92-LT1, how long did it take you to get up to 167?
Was that with a tail wind? I don't know much about Florida but I don't think that there are too many hills to use.
I'm not trying to insult you. I'm just curius how strong your engine/tranny combo is.
Indeed Mr. Mojo. It could be metric. Been there done that.
By the way, what's the conversion?

Did you not read his post flat land and no wind? Opps I see your being sarcastic..
Well, I would have to agree that 167 MPH would be on the high end of the LT-1. But will have to say that it is not much off from Factory info. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a copy of the Dealer Corvette Specialist Book that the Corvette salesperson has to sell the car by. It lists a lot of info regarding top end, 1/4 mile, and zero to sixty. The General says around 161 MPH top end on the car in 1996. I have read several posts at this forum along with pics showing as high as 164 MPH. Heck even the sticker inside the driver’s door states when driving speeds of 150 MPH or higher inflate tires to 35 psi. So I would figure 160 MPH is a good bet. Not to say some want be a little faster.
As far as the 187 MPH top end on a stock LT-1 :lolg:
Since in '94 the manual tranny pulled 174 ... then an auto is going to be significantly less.... on top of that, the fuel cut off is 255mph (in the computer - not a govenor)... so i doubt he had his "governor" removed  :lolg:
I read somewhere that the top speed in testing of the LT-1 Vette was around 176mph....I have not exceeded 150mph myself, but even 176 seems out of reach. :skep:
