Are 24lb injectors the stock injectors for an '88 L98 ? My injectors need to be
replaced because fo leakage, fiveomotorsports is showing 21 lb injectors to be
replacement injectors,I plan on upgrading my intake system in future, consider
ing using Victor jr intake with 3" MAF & vortec and or fast burn heads, anyone
had any dealings with them, any help appreciated
The computer can adjust to 24s, but i would get an adjustable pressure regulator to turn down the pressure to HELP it compensate.
But with those mods, the stock ones are just fine.
I wouldnt spend money on new heads, the 88 has the 113 D-port heads that flow enough for ~350hp untouched. All you would ever need done is porting and some valvetrain work.
24#er are a nice choice if you plan on upgrading parts in the future. You will be running a little on the rich side, but as said you can turn down the pressure to help a little, but will still run rich.
Tuning is really the only way do get the bigger injectors to run optimized, but not entirely necessary.
vader, will #24's support 350hp? I already have the vortec heads, was thinking
about installing and see how they would run but don't like the idea of cast iron
What about changing prom's to an '89 or '90 model to get rid of cold start in-
jector?
Red Rocket ,I've got an L98 and your running an LT1,vader has said that the
heads on a L98 would support up to 350hp, so if maybe I could ram the air instead of making it go in a curve and reverse my cooant flow and run same
cam as an LT1or stroker I could also produce 400 + hp with a L98 ,what do you think? Not trying to be smart just dreaming.

Id sell them then. The #24s will definitely support 350hp, quite more than that. The stock injectors will support that too.
Dont change the PROM until you do a cam change. Dont mess with the cold-start injector yet. Wait until you have a good idea of what you want to do to the engine first.
I just bought Bosch/Ford 0280150561 D9B-21lb Disc type injectors from Fiveomotorsports for my 89 L98. They had a good price. But 3 injectors leaked like a sieve around the o-rings when I applied fuel pressure. I did some research, asked some questions, and used a vernier caliper to compare injector dimensions. Turns out the Ford/Bosch injectors are slightly shorter and they come with smaller o-rings than stock injectors. The fix was to use the original injector retainers in the top groove in the Bosch/Fords (they're in the second groove in the stock injectors). If you leave the retainers off, as some people told me to do, the injectors seat too far into the fuel rails and you get a vacuum leak at the manifold end. I replaced the Bosch/Ford o-rings with new AC Delco injector o-rings. Now they work just fine. Be sure to coat the o-rings with a film of clean motor oil to help them slip into the fuel rails and intake manifold. I hope this info is helpful.
BTW... Bruce at Fiveomotorsports wasn't much help when I was diagnosing my injector leak. His solution was to sell me more expensive injectors. He also told me to leave out the retainers. (sorry Bruce.. but that's the facts)
