Default Freeze 12

Has anyone used this? I read the site today and wondered if anyone had any comments about this product. It is getting warmer here and I need to get my AC going. But I would like to do it myself.

If you install this on a 86 do you have to install that high perssure valve they talk about? Dunno if a Vett has this or not.

For the money I can either have the stuff to do it again at a later date or I can pay someone every time I need it done. I always like to do things myself and have worked on AC on older cars before. Ones that were converted to R134a.

Freeze 12 is an R134 blend. You all ready have a high pressure switch. That's important, because mixing Freeze 12 with R12 can raise system pressure to dangerous levels. The difficult part is testing the switch. It doesn't open to shutoff compresser operation until about 400 psi and if it doesn't open, well you don't want to be anywhere near the a/c components. So, if you want to use it and be safe, flush the system to make sure there's no R12 left in it & be sure to swap out the Accumulator (because the R12 desiccant isn't really compatible with Freeze 12 and if that falls apart you're in for some really big repairs). On the other hand, if you're going to all that trouble anyway, just use R134. Or, get your license at http://www.epa.com and buy all the R12 you want. The last Google search I did showed an average price of about $20/lb. You'll need about 50 bucks worth.
