I currently have Borla mufflers on my 95. I have T.P.I.S. long tube headers, Dr Gas x-pipe to Borla mufflers. I get some resonance at 2,000 R.P.M. Are Corsas quieter? I'm looking for something that will get rid of the resonance. I also like the Corsa tips. Has anyone done a fair comparison?
I had both Borla mufflers and a Corsa cat-back on a stock '92, the difference was night and day. The Borla's resonanted BAD below 2200 rpm, no resonance with the Corsa at all.
I currently have long tubes on the '92, still no resonance with the Corsa's. Not too loud inside in general either.
I currently have both .... Borlas on the 90 ZR-1 and Corsas on the '94 LT1.
Guess which one the wife likes (loves)? :D
On the '94 I went from stock to eliminators to Corsas (mostly for the sake of the wife's wishes) and I must admit, I like the sound a lot.
Just recently acquired the Z which has the Borlas already installed (plus I got the original system, too). Totally different sound and the resonance is definitely there. Even so, I do like the Borlas and their "unique" tone.
I still need to carefully listen to (and ride inside) a Z with stock as well as the Corsa setup. Not sure I want to change but if I like the other sound better I'll be tempted. Hope this helps.
I went from stock to elims to borla cat-back and i like it a lot, not as loud as the elims, but definitely better throttle response and more power :D i couldn't take the crappy square-tip wrapped borlas though, so i bought some c5 tips nad had them put on, i think it looks
I have the borla on my Vette and I think it sounds cheap. The 2k rpm resonance is awful, and it doesn't have the type of deep rumble that I like. I've heard borlas on other cars and loved it, but on my vette it sounds cheap. My IROC has a cheap dynamax exhaust and although it's way too quiet, it has a better sound.
Gears have everything to do with this. RPM at cruise is what causes the resonance. I know, I used to have 2.59's with a free flow Borla system(I've since gone to 3.45's) and the resonance was COMPLETELY eliminated.

I agree, I had the elims on mine and took them off after a few weeks and went back to stock. Couldn't deal with the resonance. I drove my buddies that had them and I didn't remember them being that bad. Then we figured it out he has the 3.07 gear and mine has the 2.59 That was a big $$$ going back stock
Can someone post that has the Corsa how much louder is it then stock and do you have better performance? Is there any resonance?
I have little to no resonance with my Corsa's, but I don't have headers and I do have my cats. I ran into a guy with a similar car w/ long tubes/no cats and his car was MUCH louder than mine...
One thing I would recommend to anyone running Corsas with a pcm on there car.. at WOT you will get false knock from the noise. I suggest an LT4 Knock module.. this is sort of a detuned to do away with some of the false noise needed for the LT4s due to the Rollor rockers that come stock.. If you don't already know when your knock sensors pick up noise usually from knock they retard the timing in your ignition causing you to loose performance.. If it is true knock this is a good thing (probably from lower octane gas) if it is false knock this is a bad thing effecting perfomance. For around 30 bucks you can upgrade to the LT4 knock module. It takes about 10 minutes to install. Happy vetting..
I get no resonance from mine and lots of compliments on how they sound. I bought the car with them already on (The guy I bought the car from thought everything was stock)
If this helps at all, I would compare the loudness to that of a stock 97 Cobra exhaust, maybe a bit louder, as a guy here at work has one, and they sound quite simular.
