No way, it's gotta be the girl. Get rid of her and all your problems will go away. :D
Sorry, couldn't resist.
Couldn't hurt to do a general tune up with plugs/wires, cap/rotor. fuel filter and whatnot if you haven't done it in a while. But it could very well be the pump as others here have said.
Whats the stock output pressure on an 84 pump? Don't the L98 and LT1 pumps put out more pressure? If you have to replace the pump, I'd think going to a higher volume pump and installing a pressure regulator would do nothing but good for the Cross Fire injection...

The Crossfire HAS a fuel pressure regulator. It's inside the rear throttle body assembly. The specification for fuel pressure is 9-13#. A GOOD stock fuel pump has no problem meeting and exceeding the needs of a mildly modified engine. I have not tested for max press from a stock pump, but during expementation, I cranked my pressure to 17#. It blew black (excessively rich) smoke down the entire 1/4 mile. I currently run 14#. The fuel pressure does NOT fluctuate during a 1/4 mile run. That is with shifting at 6000 rpms or slightly higher. If a pump needs replacing, a similarly priced later model is a good idea, but replacing a GOOD stock pump will produce NO gains in performance. I've done the testing. Good luck, and...

Heads, cam and the whole rest of the long block is untouched since manufacture. I have ported the begeezus out of the manifold, and bored the TB's to 2". 6000 seems to be the optimum shift point at this stage.
