On my 96 there is a fuel display button you push. The actual part you push is there and it works. What is missing is the cover button that says fuel, so all you see is a bright orange light. Dealer says he must remove whole unit and ship, do not like this idea since it all works. Any ideas and info would be greatly appericated.
Thank you

Have you tried to find one in a salvage yard?

I can't blame you! Something sounds wrong here. The button itself functions and you're just missing the cover right? Because the button is missing, the dealer wants to remove that section of the dash and ship it to be repaired? You may want to ask for dinner and dancing because you are going to get hosed (IMHO).

Check out a local salvage yard, contact vette2vette.com or post an ad in the parts for sale/wanted section. Get your hands on the button/cover and post back. There are many people here who can help step you through the installation.
