Having fitted an aftermarket ECM with no provision for A/C control, I went ahead and removed all the tubing and the condensor. Shed weight and made the engine bay less cluttered (You just don't need air-con in the UK anyway, as our weather sucks!). So, I have the compressor still fitted so as not to mess with the serpentine belt routing, and it's clutch is disengaged, so it's essential a free-wheeling idler, right?
Having said that, does anyone make a replacement pulley that will bolt right up? Even though my compressor looks pretty with it's shiny chrome cover, it's a heavy piece of kit so I'd rather dump it if I can.
Finally, does the stuff I've removed have any resale value? It was all working before the computer upgrade.
ditching the compressor? I am sure you could adapt something to it... my guess? check something like http://www.summitracing.com for generic small block chevy belt/pully kits.
