Default my new cam will be wild!

I was going to get a 212/224@050, 112, 520/536 comp cam.

Due to availability, my heads guy got a 214/224@050, 112 ,566/563 lift, cam.

The second one sounds a lot more fun. More lift than hot cam but less duration. Just what I wanted...

...except that my Ed Wright chip is programmed for 212/224! Oh well

There shouldn't be enough difference in those cams to make the program that far off. The Ed Wright program is going to be a guess anyway so it should for all you know it could be closer to what you need for the cam you're getting.

What rocker ratio are those lift numbers for, and if you don't' mind me asking what type of heads do you have that will flow at that lift? Stock LT1 heads tend to stall right after .550

What is the LSA of the two cams?

Will the pistons stand that much lift?

Those are for 1.6 RR's. I will have ported LT1 heads, hopefully similar to
yours. I sent my castings in to be machined, however, since there were
some already available, this is an exchange.

112 deg sep angle, just like the LT4 hotcam.

Gee, I hope so. I was not planning on replacing the stock ones.
Really though, this is about the same lift as Nathan gets with his 1.7 RR's
and the hotcam. This is .566 and I computed Nathan would be at .557 with
his current combo.

You have to trust your heads guy when he has raced Corvettes
like Pete at CNC in Florida.

That should be a good LSA for those durations.

Since you have an experienced shop doing the setup I wouldn't worry about it.

well, I am ordering heads and cam from an experienced guy,
but my "shop" who is doing the assembly is not a race mechanic.
He deals with stock Corvettes and any other car under the sun.

Whe Cartek did mine they potrted the head, got aflow number and had COMP build me a cam to match my heads. It doesn't cost that much more. Also by doing that we kept the 1.5 rockers and built all the lift into the cam. By doing this you can keep the stock valve geometry.

:iagree: My Stage III heads are enroute from Pete as we speak. I went with the CC 224/230 (533/540 with 1.6rr) cam though...

That's really the best way to do it. If I had it to do again and I had the heads first I would get a custom cam. I went with the 1.7 rockers because I couldn't bear changing a cam again, I finally got all the oil leaks fixed from last time.

Nathan,
Did you check valve clearances and such? What did you find? It seems
few run more lift than .530 with 1.6 RR's. Do you have stock pushrods?

No I didn't check the clearances. The CC306 cam has a higher lift and longer duration. Since my lift was going to be higher, but effectively for the same duration I reasoned that I would be just fine.

Currently my pushrods are stock length but I haven't had the time to check the length correctly. My friends at TEA have a way to do this very accurately and nail it down right the first time. I just haven't had the time yet to do it.
