My '89 automatic coupe keeps blowing the "gauges" fuse everytime I hit a bump. I don't have a wiring diagram in my shop manual.
Anybody had this problem or have suggestion for how I narrow down the culprit in this circuit that handles so many items??
Thanks
Shop Manual recommends that you replace the fuse; turn the ignition to run and then depress the brake pedal. If the fuse blows when the pedal is released, it's in the TCC circuit. If it blows with the pedal depressed, it gives the following possibilities: Harness scraping the center brace behind the instrument panel near the fuse block; Wire to vanity mirror is pinched in the visor return spring; Headliner screws driven into harness across top of windshield or down RH pillar; Terminals pulled out of connectors at the A/C Control Assembly or the Telltale Assembly Connector; Harness shorted near rear of the engine block behind the disributor; Harness pinched or shorted between the left horn and the frame; or the wire to the TCC/Cruise brake switch shorted by the brake pedal bracket. Since your's seems to short with movement, I'd look at the horn, the brake pedal bracket and behind the distributor. Unless someone has opened up the harness behind the dash, it's fairly secure.
