Hey Tim, I will unbolt the headers and retorque the heads and re-bolt the headers tomorrow. Should be driver able tomorrow nuight or Friday AM.
The pics are a little dishevled but I got up this morning at 3:00AM and pulled the tranny and put it back in. I just wantedto chcek somting before we started it up.
Had to drain 7-gallons of fuel I put in back in September, and refilled with 11-gallons of 93 octane.
Other than that I had one leak from my oil cooler gasket where I tried to improvise with a standard oil filter gasket that did not seal.
So I am about 4-6 hours and one gasket from "prowling time"!
:D
WTG LD!! Glad to hear its coming along good!! BTW,be sure the oil cooler adaptor isnt cracked.I had a problem blowing out the Oil ring seal on the cooler during WOT and oil went everywhere.Would tighten it back on with a new O ring and did the same thing twice.Took it down and found out that the oil cooler adaptor on the block was cracked in half making the cooler loosen up.Just a caution to watch out for.Didnt know it cracked until i took it off the motor and it came off in 2 pieces.
Hope to be able to come up there within 2 weeks or so.See ya soon.

Just got back in from a meeting this evening. Larry I am sooo happy for you, a lot of research and planning is about to pay off....... not to mention hard work! Congrats again Bud!!!
happy to help ld85,
you probably should warn them about the "open headers" I turned down my volume before starting the video (my ears already heard it in person so I knew what to expect!).
It should run even better with all new fuel and some tuning!
when you get it on the road we'll do some data logging/tuning, better put extra wax behind the rear tires so the rubber comes off easier :D

Your right RJ, I should have mentioned the open headers. By the end of today I hope to have it on the road and will record another video/mpg with the exhaust.
Thanks again for your help. I prtobbaly enver would have realized that the really old fuel was the problem with the initital startup. Had that fuel not been in the tank, the start up would have been 99% flawless.
Thanks again

Thanks to the forum and all that lended their support, I am sure the new engine will cause me to have even more questions and I very much appreciate the patience of all that helped directly and in-directly!
My eyes are still burning from the fumes
when you get some time/money you should upgrade to some mandrel bend exhaust (2.5" or 3').
good luck with the test driving and congrads on getting it going!
