Default Update on my Frustration (pulsation damper?)!

If you've read my previous post on low fuel pressure, you'll know that all the common things that contribute to this problem were either new or operating within spec. I have a walbro (via DRM) in-tank pump that puts out more than a hooker on Main St., unrestricted lines and curious pressure readings....

Well after seriously retarding the timing I can get it to idle for about 5 seconds (before dying of fuel starvation) and I can acheive almost 25psi on the pressure gauge (but it keeps oscillating). Although my regulator is a new holley, I'm going to get a GM replacement from the local parts store and give it another go.

I also have one final question: some pumps have a pressure reducer (sp?)? that sits right on top of the fuel pump in the tank, is that a necessity? I do not have one so perhaps that is contributing to my pressure oscillations and problems- but regardless I don't know really what it does.

Anyone?

I've never heard of a pressure reducer, are you referring to the check valve? When I replaced my fuel pump wiht the GM kit the fuel pump output fitting slid into a rubber dampener which I believe may also be the check valve. I sure couldn't see how the simple act of slipping the fuel pump fitting into this rubber dampener with no clamp or anything would hold any pressure, but that is what the diagram showed...

I agree. from what I could find, this "pressure reducer" is just to even out fuel line vibrations and to keep a pulse wave from shoving fuel back down the pump or somehting.

My problem lies elsewhere... I just have to work up the courage to remove the plenum AGAIN.
