Oxygen Sensor...Help
In removing the old O2 sensor there was some thread damage to mounting flange on the exhaust.
I have the new sensor but would like to re-tap the mounting flange nut before I install the new one. The problem is I have had a hard time figuring out what size tap I need to use.
The sensor shaft appears to be an 11/16 with 16 Threads per inch but this does not seem to be a common tap size.
Does anyone know if this particular sensor is metric...perhaps a 16 Millimeter? or what size tap to use?
Believe me when this one goes in there will be liberal amounts of anti-seize applied.
But, take your old O2 sensor up to your handy Ace Hardware guy and get them to tell you what threads are on IT.
Then you'll know what tap you need.
An alternative is to take your old o2 to Sears and compare it to the taps they have there.
If you were close by I'd fix you up. I've got two LARGE tap & die sets. One Metric and one SAE.
Good luck with it.
