I think that I have a leaking injector(s). The car is hard to start after it has bee shut off for a few hours. Fires up with 1/3 throttle opening. Smells like gas so I assume it is flooded due to a leaking injector. I store the car in the winter so a good chance for the gas to set in teh injectors for a long period. I didn't have this problem when I put is away last year. Ever since this Spring, I have the starting problem.
So, how do you check for leaking injector? Can they be cleaned? I tried a can of injector cleaner in the gas tank but no help. I don't want to buy new ones if I don't need too.

What yr. car? Anyway, this will work...First, install a fuel pressure guage on the schrader vavle. Key on, engine off. Pressure should be 41-47 lbs..... if it falls, key off & pull the rubber bladder off the gas tank filler to expose the rubber fuel lines. Key on, engine off and pinch off pressure line (to injectors) with vice grips. Pressure should hold. If it does, something wrong with pump, check valve etc. if not,... key off for 10 sec.... key on and block off return line to tank. if pressure holds ..bad FPR ..if pressure falls, leaking injectors. hope this helps.

Vetteman, you might was to see if your FPR is shot. I had the gas odor and hard to start problem and thought it was a leaky injector as well. After changing the injectors, I still had the same problem. Turned out the the FPR needed to be rebuilt and also the little rubber elbow down there was cracked. Fixed both and problem solved. Could've been a lot cheaper if I was better at diagnosing.

What ever you do look in it and see what the problem is, I keep telling myself I would fix em later. the gas got into the engine and I had to get a new block.
here is a pict of my cracked block, I might as well show if off I paid enough for it. :cuss
