Have an 85 Vette and when I push on the horn button it doesn't always blow the horn.
Sometimes it may give a partial "blow" or won't blow at all. I have to keep pushing different places on the button to get it to work. Kind of dangerous sometimes when you are trying to avoid an accident. Any suggestions on how to check it out and what might be wrong with it?
You could check for power at the horns themselves, but it seems like the horn button. pull off the horn button and touch the wire to the steering wheel nut. Horn shold blow fine if no at least you ruled out the switch. Let us know if you need further assisstance.
Took the cap off the steering wheel. The yellow wire that's attached to the underside of the cap was disconnected at the other end. It appears that there some sort of metal cap at the other end of the wire with a coiled spring (sort of like you would find in a ballpoint pen over the wire behind the metal cap. Then there's a plastic cylinder above the spring (between the spring and the end of the wire attached to the steering wheel cap). Is this making sense? I guess the question is where does the yellow wire attach and how is it attached? There appears to be a plastic tube going down into the steering wheel but it not sure what to do now. Any additional help would be appreciated.
