Recommended rear end gearing?

Also, what ration is lower, a 3.54 or 3.75? I've heard of a 4.10(?).
And finally (for this post anyway), what is the difference between a Dana 36 and a Dana 44?
Any help is appreciated!

so 4.10 is lower than 3.54
For an automatic, either 3.54 or 3.73 gears are best. 4.10s will kill your mileage if you have to drive this thing on the hwy. Which of those two you pick depends on how much hwy driving you do now. Either will probably give .2 in the 1/4mi at least. Adding a higher stall torque converter will also drop times.
A D44 carrier is a beefed up carrier that is standard in all manuals from 85-96, its much stouter and you can run slicks on it.
The D36 is slightly smaller, its tougher than whats in a Taurus or Caddy but not enough that you can put slicks on. If you do it'll shatter eventually. All automatics have a D36.
If you want a drag king, put the 3.54s or 3.73s in the D44. Youll probably not have to worry about it breaking until you make SERIOUS hp.
