I have a 1227805 PROM in my 85, it is a "Field Service Upgrade" for my car. Is there any way to get this to work with WinALDL? I am trying to diagnose some problems with my car.
DF- Just a little background in case you don't know. I might have heard/ran that PROM. When the prev owner had it and gave me a couple chips, he mentioned either that name or something like a 'cold start and acceleration' enhanced PROM, over the counter GM chip.
Regardless, your Vette can be scanned just like any other.
However, field service mode is generally when the car is run with just pins A and B shorted out. Perhaps the chip is set to maximize troubleshooting under these conditions??? There are a few random blurbs about field service mode in the shop manual. Basically, it will flash the check engine light at 1hz if the O2 sensor sees a 'normal' O2 condition. Don't drive it a bunch cause timing becomes either fixed or less then optimal for diag purposes.
Unfortunatly, when you scan the 870, it is automatically put into a diagnostic or ALDL mode no matter what. There is not a mode you can scan it in which just 'eavsedrops' without actually to changing the timing a bit.
