I traced my rough idle to a blown out egr diaphragm. I am curious to know what the minimum components are I must remove to replace. Thank you for your help.
Tim
You'll have to losen up your runners on the bottm,
and remove the bolts on the top to the plenum.
This way you can remove the plenum and get to the EGR valve underneath...
When you get the plenum out of the way a wrench with a "S" bend will help you out immensely on the rear bolt. The rear bolt on the EGR valve is a bear to get to :yesnod:
Yep, the rear bolt is a tough one. I shortened (sacrificed) a box end wrench with a hacksaw so the it would fit down in there.
When you put it all back together, spray the new plenum/runner gaskets with Pam (the cooking spray). It will make getting things apart much easier the next time around and your gaskets will be re-usable, as in you won't tear them up taking things apart.
