OEM muffler life?
How long will the oem exhaust last? My car is 7 years old/85,000 miles. Nearly all trips over 30 minutes.
The 1986 Z28 exhust was gone in 7 years. The aftermarket exhaust lasted another seven. Same driving conditions.
I want a better exhaust, but too cheap to replace a perfectly functioning part.

Your exhaust system is made of aluminized stainless steel. My '93 will be 11 years old this Oct. with no signs of deterioration. The following link is quite interesting. I have a 86. I think the pipes were OEM. They had heat sheilds tacked to the pipes. My car had about 105K miles on it when I had new SS pipes put on. I was shocked to think the pipes lasted that long. :D
