I like the specs and archive results for people using the HOTCAM. But I would rather have Pro-Magnum Rockers, 7/16" studs, double springs, etc...
than the kit stuff. Am I being stupid and or does anyone sell just the cam?
PS does the hotcam work with the GM Extreme Duty timing chain and stock everything else?
You do not have to buy the Hot Cam Kit, you can just buy the cam and use whatever rockers/valve springs/push rods you want. The GM part # for jsut the cam is 24502586, it's $166 from http://www.GMPartsDirect.com
And yes, you can user the GM Heavy Duty timing chain with it
However, to use the GM Extreme Duty chain, you must upgrade your timing cover and optispark, as it wont fit under the '92-'94 covers, and the older style opti, wont fit with the new covers. And I would HIGHLY recommend upgrading from the stock chain.. its definately good insurance.
I'm using a new stock chain with my set-up. I won't be cranking the rpm's you guys are but if something happens regarding the chain, I'll be sure to post it in this section.
Does anyone make a timing chain other than the GM extreme duty that will work with the hot cam kit, so that the pre 95 guys don't have to go through all that trouble????
