Subject pretty much says it. Get a grind going from 2nd to 3rd (ONLY) under hard shifting (slower shifting alleviates the grind). What is the average cost of replacing the synchro rather than the tranny (*cough* *wheeze*)?
Re: Cost to replace synchros on a 91 C4? (ChandlerL)
You can probably plan on a complete rebuild since 99% of the effort needs to be done to replace that one synchro, and because you've got to buy the full synchro kit. I don't have the link to the place in Texas here, but they get $800 for the rebuild kit, $400 for labor to rebuild it, plus you've got to pay freight shipping both ways. :cry

Here's the facts....just had it done...
Standardtransmission.com (TX). total: $1950.00
Reverse Synchro gear
Reverse Synchro Sleave
Reverse main shaft
Labor
$150 of it was for shipping to Kansas City
Then on top of that ,$750 for Superior Chevrolet to remove/install and ship the tranny to TX.
Yes, they had to purchase the entire synchro kit so I have several synchros if anyone needs them...$100 each with free shipping within the continental US.
