Default Early C4 cold air intake

OK. US early C4 guys don't have much for a Air box replacement. I tried using a air bridge from a C5...so dam close.... but after you make it fit it will flow less than the stock POS. I have the license plate cut out, and hte bumper... this droped my MAT temps down a lot! from 104 to 77 in the same Cruising 75MPH situation. I'm going to put a Large KN filter like off the C5 kits right behind the plate.... but My main problem is getting 3" pipe over the radiator!! the hood won't close! MOTHER FUC1KRR. How much clearance do we exactly have?? anyone tried this before?? I'd try piping it around the side...but we have HEadlights....and a hood support in the way....
Anyway to get 3" mandrel pipe infront of the Radiator?? hhhmmm i might try going under...but that's a cluster F. our stock air boxes ported out in the "throat" area only flow 580CFM (about). that doesn't sound like performance numbers to me. a freakin Honda will have 3" mandrel pipe... Any tips??

This is one of my next projects. I was thinking about using aluminum tubing from the maff and compressing it over the rad shroud. then to a k&n feeding threw the plate.
Still thinking up ideas though

make sure you calculate the flow or area of the pipping. Vortex seems to make something....but i dont want to use their air filter system..stupid. I've been thinking of ZR1 intakes, Vortex, ..... making one out of sheet metal... this sux.

When you say you tried to use the "air bridge" from a C5 are you referring to the Cobra Plenum? If so, this most certainly should not interfere with air flow much at all, expecially if you try to use one of the larger aftermarket units of the Z06 unit, and it should give you the clearance necessary to close the hood.

i'm using a stock C5 from a '01. it doesn't close. trust me. i guess we only have about 1.9" of space inbetween. So no C5 airbridge at all, stock or aftermarket will work. pisses me off.

There was a guy here that used the C5 cobra plenum on his LT1, I'll see if I can track him down and get some pics of his setup. Unfortunatly he's not on the forum and he uses it on his race car. Gimme a couple days. Send me an e-mail at Jay@Cline.net to remind me so I don't forget if you're interested.
