What would it take to put an automatic transmission into an 85' vette that has the 4+3 manual????????
I know I need a shifter, is the torque arm different?? Driveshaft???
Thanks for any advice.

Torque arm and driveshaft are the same. You may need to cut out the trans tunnel from a wrecked auto.
I did the exact same swap in my '86, it had a 4+3 now it is a 4L60. You "should" change the tunnel if you want it to look right from underneath, but it is not absolutly neccessary. You can cut and paste the existing tunnel and get close.
The 4+3 tunnel has a huge pocket for the shifter. You have to trim it a little to get the auto to fit in there (I think, it has been sooo long since I did mine, its all a little hazy now). I made a plate to lay across the top of the opening to hold a stock shifter. If you use a factory shifter, you can also use the factory console top and really make it look right.
You also need to change out the pedal, which is really easy, and cut a hole just beneath the climate control head for the stock cable to go through. Really easy stuff.
The stock shifter leaves a lot to be desired, you might consider a B&M Mega Shifter or a Quick Silver (lots more work!!). I was going for the factory look, you can't tell mine was not an auto from the factory.
