Just put a new Hurst shifter in my 90 ZR-1. I know that there have been several threads on shifters, including the Hurst and the B&M. I've never driven the B&M so can't comment, but the Hurst is a HUGE improvement over stock and I believe it is just right for me. I'm very pleased.
How long did it take. Also did you do it on lift or off jack stands at home. How tough was it to do with tranny still in car? Oh by the way congrats!!!

About 4 hours .... Dennis Scott (dscott on the forum) did most of the work as I attempted to learn and we used his lift. Definitely easier with 4 hands (at least on a couple of steps) even tho Dennis has done the entire job solo. I think this was his 4th or 5th one to install so he already knew the steps.
Yes, the tranny was in and it wasn't too bad ... but the job would be a total piece of cake with the tranny removed. Also, the recommendation is to remove the exhaust. We unhooked the catback Borlas from the cats and dropped them slightly in the hangers to give enough room to work and this seemed to be enough.
Small hands are a great asset :yesnod:
Could it be done on jack stands? Sure, but it would be twice as tough.
Me too. I just put my Hurst in along with some other goodies and, by far, the most enjoyable improvement in driving the Vette was the shifter. I love the sound of it shifting, so positive. I bet you enjoy stopping at street lights. :yesnod:
Congrats on the install, and if you think you like it now wait till your first redlight run in with a punk in a GT :smash: . I have had mine for about 7 months now , and I love it. Well once again congrats. Oh by the way if any of you guys are wanting pics you might talk to ZRChris, he was very helpful with my install, and if anyone has pics it would be him.
