Default computer problems with 93 LT1

I recently had an independent repair shop in Vancouver, B.C. damage the computer on my '93 LT1 by reconnecting the wiring harness incorrectly, under the dash, while changing the heater core. They ordered and installed a reman computer after a 6 week wait. They weren't aware that the odometer would reset to zero and that you had approx 100 miles to get it reprogrammed. Today a GM dealer tried to reprogram the odometer with his Tech II device and I'd driven too many miles (I was just over the 100). The repair shop has another computer on order.

My question, is it safe to drive the car while waiting for the replacement computer? The last one took 6 weeks to arrive. Another local Corvette expert told me that someone in GM USA told him that if the computer isn't programmed within 15 or so "starts", no mention of mileage, that the computer will just shut the car down. I'm concerned about getting stranded if I use the car while waiting for the new computer.

Can anyone confirm or deny this claim of the car just not starting at some point?

You're talking about the CCM not the ECM/PCM i assume since you say it reset the odometer. You can swap ECM's all you want and it won't change your mileage.

Not sure how safe it is to drive without a CCM, haha. I didn't think it would run.

There is more than the odometer reading that has to be programmed into the CCM.
Here is a list of what I remember:
1) Odometer reading
2) VIN # of your car
3) Option content of your car -- if the CCM isn't aware that you have ABS/ASR, C68 climate control, etc. it doesn't know it has to communicate with them.
4) Pass key pellet resistance for your security system -- I think this can be done after 100 miles.

That been said, there is no dangerous thing going to happen -- simply, some of the options may not work.
Your interior light timer may be very short in time.
