SAFELY CLEANING THE ENGINE
Whats the best way to safely clean the engine...so much electronics. in the old days you put a plastic bag on the distributor....lol am I dating myself? :banghead:

Dont douse the distributor, and youll be ok.
I wouldnt spray any cleaner or anything on the MAF connections though.

I do use a plastic bag to cover the dist cap, just to be on the safe side, but you shouldn't have too many problems cleaning an L98

Thanks....pressure washer ok I guess. kind of a dull engine. I need to jazz it up on my overhaul

Cleaned mine 2 weeks ago. I used simple green, worked great, the only problem is that I must have dowsed the TPS. After driving it later that day the RPM's started acting crazy. Finally gave that code 21. Be careful of the TPS also. I had to replace mine.

I pulled all the accessories from the front of the motor and fully degreased it last year. I used my power washer and it did a great job.
