Last night on my way home from work the windshield started to mist up. The further I drover the worse it got. Defroster didn't help. I detected a faint smell of antifreeze. What is going on???? I closed the vent and was able to wipe down the windshield enough to get home. Can anyone tell me what is wrong? I have an 85 coupe.

Your heater core has developed a leak. Many of us on this forum consider this part 0001, in that it appears that the heater core was installed first then the rest of the car around. It requires you to disassemble most of the dash to get to it. It is a difficult job but doable. Good luck.
:iagree: The way I look at the heater core: The Vette is a life support system for the heater core. :skep: Have fun bonding with your Vette on this one.

:iagree: If you smell coolant, the heater core it is. If you aren't going to do the work for a while, bypass the core by connecting the heater hoses. That will stop any more coolant from leaking inside. Be glad it went now, not during the winter when you really need the heat. Small consolation, I know.

I would never put radiator leak sealers in my vette, but the stuff does work.
Sevaral years ago this happened to my daily driver - an '88 Daytona with ~200K miles. Since the car wasn't worth the effort of fixing properly, I used one of the radiator sealers (Bar's Stop Leak), and it worked really well - when I got rid of the car at 265K miles, there was no sign of the heater core leak.
