First noticed a flicker in the dash board. Now all my electronics are acting up. The wipers go slow the turn signal blink slow. and the clincher is the voltage meeter on the dash will read anywhere from 10.9 to 11.7, where it used to stay constant at 12. Now i can basically control that voltage read out with the gas pedal. That leads me to believe the alternator is doing its job but the batter is failing. What is the opinion of the forum?
I agree. The altenator charges the battery. The battery acts as a reservour. When the alt isn't keeping up with the demand, the battery supplies the short fall. A bad battery puts an extra burden on the alt. I would have the battery tested and replaced before you end up buying both. Been there, done that. Good luck, and...
Your batter???????
No really you've been on this forum long enough to know.....it's probably the battery......if you have really checked out your charging system.....
Did anyone make any good offers for your vette....are you still trying to sell it?????
Good Luck..
Simple Problem....

the alternator should be supplying 13.8-14.6 volts at all times. your voltmeter reads what the battery's at, and that reading should be close to what the alternator is supplying, so it should read in the high 13's most of the time. right after you start the engine when it's cold, and it should read in the low 14's.
so if it's registering in the sub 10's, i would be led to believe it is your charging system that is at fault. then again, the battery could also not be accepting the charge. so basically i offer no help here.
oh well, thats what you get looking for free advise  :D
You have the symptoms of a poor battery cable connection to your battery. Remove the cables (neg first), clean the battery posts and the cable lugs until bright and reconnect (neg last). Recharge the battery with a battery charger , not the alternator, unless you like paying for and replacing alternators. If you still have the same symptoms, your battery is at the end of its life and needs replacing.
