Is it necessary to disconnect the battery, or can you just climb under and install the bypass?? I'm really hoping I can just pull up on the ramps, and snap the pc in. I HATE the 1st to 4th shift, it's seriously annoying!!!!!
Smack dab center of the tranny on the drivers side. It is next to a 2" round cylinder that comes off the tanny (the CAGS solenoid). The reverse lights are way up at the top of the tranny.
Done deal! It took me longer to get the ramps set up, then it did to slide under, and install the bypass!! Talk about something I should have done the week I bought the car, this is it... How nice is it, to be able to glide through your gears, without something forcing you to shift to 4th.. Nice :party:
I wouldn't say there's anything WRONG with it, unless you just leave the ends hanging, unprotected to weather conditions.. The placement of it , it really needs to be sealed.. This "bypass kit" is nothing more then two ends, making it a completely water tight connection...
Does your check engine light, or any other light ever come on?? If not, I would say 100% that this "kit" has nothing else to it!
I believe it is 96 up with obd2 that you have to have resistor in line or you will send off trouble code. My 96 Trans Am has a resistor in the kit and my 92 only had caps to cover ends when you disconnect solenoid.
No, no warning light comes on. I didn't disconnect the solenoid at the tranny, I disconnected the relay on the firewall behind the battery. (I have a '91 if that makes any difference.)
Then it must be just the 96 up vettes that have to have a resistor in the kit. 95 and older only use caps to seal plug ends. That is why there is a difference in prices of those two kits.
