When people say you only get about a 2 hp gain. Dosent sound like much but think about getting run over or dragged by two horses....thats a lot of power....now....think about a 50 hp gain. I guess its all relative.
Come on you guys. Horsepower isn't really related to how powerful a horse is. I can't explain it in 20 words or less, but it is a strange formula. Look it up in a search engine and I think you'll be suprised at how the engineers came up with "horsepower" ratings.
Actually it did all start from as it is related to a horse.
The engineers name was James Watt. He found that, on average, a mine pony could do 22,000 foot-pounds of work in a minute. He then increased that number by 50 percent and pegged the measurement of horsepower at 33,000 foot-pounds of work in one minute. In Watt's judgement, one horse can do 33,000 foot-pounds of work every minute.

That's what I'm writing about. 2 HP doesn't equal 2 horses. It's all mathmatical equations. If you hitch up 2 horses to a buggy, it doesn't mean that you have a 2 horsepower buggy. On the other hand, 2 horses could pull more than a 2 horsepower go-kart. But it's hard to put gas in the horses, unless you feed them beans. :D

Well, you do have a 2 horsepower buggy, but it isn't the same HP as engine HP which is.....HP=(TQ*rpm)/5252
But it's hard to put gas in the horses, unless you feed them beans. :D
