I have a 90, And I would think they are all the same, I had to use a puller.
It pulled on the pulley while it pushed against the PS pumps center shaft.
Auto zone should rent this to you. If it is thier free rental or whatever it is...
What Bill said is correct. I have a puller that makes that makes easy work of it. Most new pumps will come with a bolt/tool to help you remove/re-install it, but I've never tried it that way.
It's a special tool that I got from a SnapOn dealer. It's kind of hard to explain but, it has the adapters that allow it to grab the flange of the pulley while it pulls against the shaft.
Take it to a machine shop. They will probably do it for free or for $5.00. Maybe even a beer. It is worth your time and money. That is how I have it done. Not that I can't because I rebuilt my entire engine but somethings are easier to let the machine shop do it and it gives them a job. Just my 2 cents.
There is a tool specifically for this job. Its name is...surprise, A power steering pulley removal kit. I got mine off the MAC truck at work. It'll make short work of the job at hand. You may be able to rent one at a local auto parts store as others said.
I did it on my 85 and borrowed the tool from Autozone. Harbor Freight sells a puller kit for $10 on sale. The replacement pump comes with the screw to put the pulley back on.
