Re: Fire extinguisher and ext. mount group purchase (Speed Direct)
are the Chrome,s really chromed or are they like satin i got mine today it isnt chrome just wondering if i got the wrong one my freind has a smaller one in his car that is chrome its half the size easy! he could mabey put out a fire in his ashtray  and the extinguisher has no end do i have to buy a hose or something? or is it ok like that looks like something should go in there?
Re: Fire extinguisher and ext. mount group purchase (fiberglasscoffin)
They are definitely chromed but they aren't a "show quality" finish. That requires significantly more handwork to get the surface mirror smooth. As for an end there should be a nozzle on the end. The Halotrons have a flared nozzle that is about two inches long and 1.5" in diameter at the largest point. The dry-chems have a narrow nozzle about 1.5" long and .75" in diameter. Neither requires a hose.
Re: Fire extinguisher and ext. mount group purchase (Speed Direct)
i didnt get a nozzle can you get me one or do i have to call amerex? thanx and it is chromed you are correct i didnt think it looked like it but i had a freind over he thinks it looks chrome i didnt no there was different stages thought it would look like my wheels i like it anyway and more important its for fire(after that post) wow hope i dont ever need it :D
Re: Fire extinguisher and ext. mount group purchase (Speed Direct)
Speed Direct, i hope your still checking this post if not i can jsut call but more people might be wondering the same thing? What is the difference between dry chem and halotron? And this seems to be something that is easily reversible? Put it in for a weekend at the track and take it out the next day? (not sure why i would want to do that but?)
Re: Fire extinguisher and ext. mount group purchase (Chefskeez6)
fiberglasscoffin, I will make sure you get a nozzle. What kind of extinguisher did you get?
Chefskeez6, The difference between the two types is that Halotron leaves no residue but is more expensive yet dry-chem leaves significant residue that can be corrosive to metal if exposed to water but it is much less expensive.
Yes it is easily reversible. It takes less that 5 minutes to install or remove. I would strongly recommend carrying an extinguisher at all times.
Re: Fire extinguisher and ext. mount group purchase (Speed Direct)
I just installed the fire extingusher in my 94 vette and had one minor problem. My passenger side seat is not electric and the seat mounts blocked the bar's access to the bolts so I just installed the bar under the the seat mounts. The up side to mounting it this way is the plastic covers fit with the bar in place and don't have t be trimmed. It looks great and is very secure. I hope that I never have to use it on my car.
Re: Fire extinguisher and ext. mount group purchase (Speed Direct)
I just installed mine and have 1 MAJOR concern.
will I be able to install a 6 point harness in the future?
seems the mount is in the way of mounting the couch belt???
anybody have a harness with this fire extingusher setup?
thx
