I'm looking to get a new ignition setup. I have an upgraded coil, but I'm thinking of upping the nitrous and I was told I need a stronger ignition to do that. There is a possibility of a blower in the future.
I was wondering what you guys/gals used and how much it helped or how you liked them. Please Chime in with any comments, the more info the better. Thanks
[EDIT] I also saw something about an installation harness for the MSD's. Is it worth the $50. Does it make install that much easier?
I run the Digital 6 with harness not included . This unit retails for $289 . I have the entire setup plus all the safety featurs on a Wet NX sys for sale for $675
Yes the quick harness is worth it, You can install in 5 minute minus the mounting time.
I ran a 6AL until it finally gave up on me a couple months ago. Just replaced it with a 6A since I never used the rev limiter in it anyway and my stock one is set so high it should never hit it either.
Did you guys use the easy install harness with the Digital 6+? A few degrees less on the timing with the nitrous could save my pistons on my new engine, that's worth the extra $80.
MSD Digital 6+ with adapter harness here. I have the rev limit set before the fuel cut in the PCM, lower 2nd stage rev limiter activates when the line-lock is on, and timing is pulled when the N2O hits. FWIW, if I wasn't also spraying I'd run the stock 1996 ignition with MSD wires and NGK plugs. Any older LT1 you'd want to upgrade the coil also.
