On a long hard run, my 86 starts to misfire, and sometimes cuts out completely. This can be pretty scary! When I pull over, and lift the hood there is a lot of heat there, and after a few minutes, it'll startup ok again. The coolant temp never goes over 200, and oil temp is ok too. Plugs, leads, cap and coil have all been changed. I recently put in new injectors and seals, but it's just done it again. I'm not getting any codes. Any ideas?
I changed the cat last year, so it should still be good. I'm getting fluctuating idle when hot also. I was thinking maybe fuel pressure regulator or MAT sensor?
I would also look real hard at the coil......
I had a similar problem twice. The first time, the crummy Hypertech Rotor had come loose.
Second time, the lead to ECM from the Distributor was loose.
Double check all the ignition components, or try to find that ping pong ball.
