Before you pay for a repair. Check the Hi Beam switch itself it might be broken or loose. It is mounted at the base of the steering column on the top under the dash. It is actuated by a rod that connects to the handle on the column. You can move the rod by hand to see if it engages. If that works and the lever doesn't move, My guess is the prblem is in the pusher mechanism in the column.
I agree. Check at the base of the column first. There is a rod about 10 inches that goes from the lever in the column down to the switch. Push the rod in and out at the switch to see if the switch is good, bad, or just needing adjusting. Also if it just needs minor adjustment it may work if the tilt steering wheel is in the uppermost position. The switch itself is probably less than $15, but labor to install it may be $60 -$100.
Ron, the turn signal stalk (High Beam switch) may be a sign of a greater prob -Does your steering column have play in it (a wobble)??
If so, IM or e mail me :flag
There are good instructions on how to tighten the play. Sometimes it may only be a couple of bolts to tighten or it could be pivot pin problems, or even unknown. Not too hard to take down and look, just tedious.
