Mandrel bent front Y-Pipe

Can anyone tell me where to purchase a mandrel bent front Y-Pipe for my 87 without the pre-cats? Anything I've found so far is "crimp bent".

had the same problem: try ordering for 85' they didn't have cats, but did included o2 senors, got mine from Canadian Tire, the equivilent would Pep boy, or Jegs

MAD has a 2 1/2" mandrel-bent SS front Y w/o pre-cats for $199.99. They have one for '84-'85 & one for '86-'91 Vettes.

When mine arrived it had a crushed bend so I returned it and went to Mufflex in Trenton, NJ for a custom build. However, other Forum members have had good results with the unit from MAD.

the MAD peice is crap. i ordered one of these and have had problems with it since day 1. the pipe has never sealed properly onto the exhaust manifold right above the O2 sensor... this is now causing my ECM to think the car is running lean (thanks to the exhaust gas escaping before it can get to the sensor) and making the computer dump in more fuel. now car runs like garbage, and i lost almost 2 mph in the quarter.

a solution is to look up Exotic Muscle. they have a SS front ypipe that is the same cost as the MAD peice. its mandrel bent and has much better welds than the MAD pipe. it also seals to my exhaust manifold perfectly. now i just have to get back down to the track to test it

I guess it hit or miss with the MAD unit. I've had mine for over a year now and it fits great. I've had zero problems :cheers:

Likewise, my MAD 2.5 inch SS Y pipe fit like a glove, no leaks. I must have lucked out on this one.

Well, here's another lucky owner of the MAD front Y-pipe. Mine came all nice and pretty with no crush bends, all mandrel. Went on with ease and made my car sound a LOT better. :D
