Couldn't install transmission after converting to single mass using all GM parts. Used LT4 p/plate pn 1022083. After many unsecussful attempts, decided to take everything back apart. Found the release bearing that comes with this p/plate would not fit over the transmission front bearing retainer. Replaced release bearing with pn 10150039 ( original ) and reinstalled everything. Trans. slid right in. My car is a 91, so you have to use the original part number release bearing if you use the later p/platewith the first design ZF. Don't know when the ZF design was changed, but that must have been the reason for the problem. Maybe this will keep someone from having the same problem
Ill have to keep that inmind... How do you like the single Mass conversion??
Im thinking about going with a Dual Friction Centerforce setup, but keeping my flywhel..... I can get the Pressure Plate assembly T/O bearing and discs for about 550 new..... Im prolly going to start a thred about it... see what people think so I dont hijack yours....
Probably wont be able to finish until next weekend, doing some other things at the same time. U joints, heated O2, weatherstripping, headlight upgrade, and lower temp fan kit.
Changed the trans in 93 1/2. There is usually a blue tag on top of trans for 2nd generation ZF6. Thanks for info because when clutch goes I will upgrade also. Let us know how noisy your trans is when out of gear running at idle. Dual mass supposedly quiets this.
