Default Replacing cracked RH mirror

I cracked my mirror while trying to fix the rattle it made. I've bought a new mirror but I'd like to avoid placing it over the old one. Will my defrost in the mirror be functional if I decide to break off the old cracked glass? :smash:

I have a questions along those lines too. I purchased new trunions for my mirror and it looks like the book just says the mirror snaps off. Maybe thats what it does...I have been afraid to force it.

You should read this. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=440667 When you take it out I suggest you use a flat screw driver to remove the mirror then pulling it with your hands, also don't do what I did when I put it back in. I pushed on the ends and got a nice crack straight down the middle of my mirror.

Yes. Use a flat blade screw driver. Get plenty of light on the subject and you get enough view of where to pry.
