Default My 88 vs. a 2002 Firehawk

With the mods that I have in my Signature and a 3.73 rear end, do you guys think I am compatition for a 2002 Firehawk in the quarter mile? This Firehawk is stock which is rated at 345 HP and 345 pounds of torque and is a stick. Mine is an automatic. I don't know what the HP or torque is on my car yet because I haven't put it on a dyno but will be in the near future.
So what do you guys think? :boxing

Brrraaaaa, you gotta be kidding! :D

With my mods I would likely take him in the 1/4 mi; with those mods you should embarase him. I was building close to 300chp in good weather and you should have 60-70 hp more, if it's tuned.

You should be building close to the same HP (or more) and loads more torque.

Of course you better be able to hook up them ponies and have the shift points set high enough (~6k RPM) to get the job done. So you better get to the drag strip before competition time and practice some launches; you will be surprised how much wheel spin you'll get on street tires. It will take some practice to roll into the throttle. And you may need to tweak the AFPRfor best trap speed.

BTW, if you don't have a 160 deg stat & fan switch do it and toss the "frisbee" before the race.

:iagree:

You should spank it right off the line if you have the practice launching that torque monster! :D BTW, nice lookin car.

It's a ChickenHawk :lolg: Your biggest problem will be blowing off the tires, other than that. You'll :steering: kick his butt.

I've been told that the solid rear axle is a little more efficient in putting power to the ground. And it would be a no brainer if you didn't have that wimpy stock cam.
But stilll....I wasn't impressed with the Ram Air 'bird (not a Firehawk but close) when my buddy and I took one for a ride. He works for Penske Pontiac/GMC in Southgate, CA. With those mods on your car and a 3.73, yeah, no prob. You'll get him off the line big time.

Are you sure it's a real FIREHAWK? The new Firehawks aren't really all that bad. (Nothing like the 92 Firehawk's were). A buddy of mine used to have a 01 Trans-Am WS6. 100% Stock (down to the paper air filter) he ran a 13.2 in the quarter mile. Now, he's a GOOD driver. With a few SIMPLE mods to that TA, it'll murder you, but that's IF he's got the mods. If he's 100% BONE STOCK...I'm pretty sure with your motor, you'll beat him.

With stock gears his '88 Vette should be able to run mid 12s; with those gears I would bet on low 12s once he gets it dialed in.
