Default 406 is ready for pick up ,,,again!

Well the engine is back together and after a thorough investigation the builder really does not know wha tcasued the failure.

They said that some of the "bead" from the shot peen process might have been trapped in the oil galleys, but I would think it would get trapped inside the filter cause they are not small. Filters usaully filters something like .00008 " or @ 2-3 microns I think and that is much smaller than a bead. Anyway, something was in the oil and circulated thru the system and they can only imagine at this point.

Nonetheless, I will put the engine back in on Thursday then wait for the new Dewitt's C-4 double row radiator to arrive on Friday and then drop it in and then fire it up by Friday night or Sat AM..

Here is a pic of there first new C-4 radiator in the C-4 rad housing.

Looks great and cant wait to hear when shes back on the road!
Btw,is your shroud trimmed for easier top removal to clean the rad area out?
I trimmed mine so I dont even have to take any hoses or lines off to pull it off and shop vacuum in there when needed.
Talk to you soon!

Hey Bill: Thats a shroud from Dewitt's, but I did trim mine liek you desribed for easy removal and,,, maybe your next trip we can go for a ride!

Tim, I'm on my way! Sunrise here sunset there, I've done that before, its long day but an awesome day. And dont tempt me on coming our there to Cali,,,, as my dad used to say,,, dont make me come out there,,,, cause I will!

Oh yeah on the Dewitt radaitor, this is their first effort for dimensional data etc. I dont know if its a file phoot but its mine now, en-route from Dewitts! They are going to be making the new C-4 design rad for the general public pretty soon from what I understand

If there was shot beads in the oil galleries (which is a reasonable explanation) then they would have to go through the bearings first before they got back to the oil pan and then the filter. When the pump picks up oil the first place it goes is the filter and then on to the rest of the engine.

Dam, you are right, if its in the galleys then oil would push it thru the system THEN to the oil pump!. That would make sense to me then!
