LEAVING FOR CARAVAN....NEED SHOCK EXPERTS RESPONSE..!!!
I just notice scorp selling his shocks and the rears have the rubber booting on them. When I upgraded to FX3 shocks I didn't have the rubber boot installed. Those that have FX3 can you look too see if yours has the rubber booting.
Does anyone know the side effects of NOT having the boot on there? I know I'm getting a "creeking" when the car comes from a stop or into reverse. Most say its the rear brakes but I replaced them recently and used anti squeal on them.
I have the rubber boots from my old shocks, wondering if I should get them on there .........opinions......facts? Anyone......Please let me know ASAP, so I can get them on there tomorrow. Thanks

If you are talking about the rubber piece that the top of the shock rests on you need it along with the second piece that sits under the washer under the cup.

Yes I have those.........this is the boot that covers almost the entire shock about 1/2 down the body from the two upper body bolts.........that is the one I'm concerned about......

These boots are generally installed to prevent stone nicks in the shock shaft, nicks that will eventually destroy the rod seal.
You can get by without them....no one can say for how long though. You could catch a rock tomorrow, or you could go 50K miles.
