Default Code 32 After TB coolant bypass

After bypassing the TB with the coolant I seem to be getting code 32 after running on the freeway for about 10 minutes after stop and go driving. If I turn the car off the light goes out and will not come back on as long as the engine is running hot. If I get back on the freeway after about 8-10 minutes the light will come back on and will not go out until the car is turned off.

A mech friend says that he thinks that after being on the freeway and the TB cools down that somehow that is causing the EGR system to malfunction or not to work as the engine requires it to.

Any thoughts?

Totally unrelated. Mine is bypassed and it doesnt trigger a 32 any more often than i did before. Your EGR solenoid/switch is bad or the piping is clogged.

There are about 3 different wiring plug in sensor type things in the general area of the tb bypass plumbing. Are you sure they are all plugged back in? Just a thought. See Ya Pat

Replace the EGR switch located in that tube running from the right exhaust to the back of the manifold. That pipe covered by the silver heat shielding material. Or at least check the connections. You have 100% of the symptoms and it's the only thing I know that makes the light on the dash do that and sets a code 32.

Yeah, it has nothing to do with your bypass unless you happen to have broken the switch when you were doing your mod.

I don't think this is correct for the '85 (no pipe). I think the switch is located in the valve.

:iagree:

I did the TB bypass without issue. My code 32 didn't start untill I did exhaust mods.

Your code 32 occurs because the ECM is not detecting EGR active after it has been activated:
-the EGR valve is stuck closed
-the EGR solenoid is not passing engine vacuum to the EGR valve
-the EGR temp sensor is not closing

If you don't find any open connections or broken vacuum lines, there is a diagnostic procedure on my site to isolate the problem cause.
